Connecting Campuses with Communities

The IUPUI Center for Service and Learning and Indiana Campus Compact are joining forces again to host the 9th Annual Connecting Campuses with Communities conference (CCC) on May 15-19, 2017.

Over the years we have found one of the greatest benefits of attending CCC is the development of a network of colleagues interested in similar work. Please help us expand our network by sharing the following information.

Service Learning Institute – Monday, May 15th – Wednesday, May 17th, 2017

Institute Objectives:

  • To increase the number of high quality service learning courses
  • To share promising practices and generate new ideas
  • To enhance reflection, assessment, and partnerships in service learning classes
  • To build a network of service learning practitioners

Institute Topics:

  • Designing courses for well-integrated service learning
  • Creating and assessing learning outcomes
  • Developing meaningful reflection activities
  • Collaborating with community partners as co-educators

Research Academy – Wednesday, May 17th – Friday, May 19th, 2017

Academy Objectives:

  • To strengthen research on service learning and community engagement
  • To advance the scholarship of teaching and learning
  • To provide consultation and feedback on research ideas
  • To build a network of service learning scholars

Academy Topics:

  • Integrating curricula and research
  • Developing measurement approaches; quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods
  • Designing theory-grounded research questions using ethical methods
  • Writing research proposals and manuscripts
