About the Retreat

Location: Loyola University Retreat and Ecology Campus, 2710 S Country Club Rd, Woodstock, IL 60098

Dates: Monday, June 22 – Wednesday, June 24, 2020

Audience: Community Engagement Professionals based on Campus Compact member campuses in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin

Cost: Registration is $500 for members/ $1,000 for nonmembers and includes meals and lodging in single occupancy rooms with private bathrooms.

Retreat Goals

• Create an inclusive learning community in which personal and professional experiences are honored.
• Allow space for participants to reflect on the gifts and passion and affirm their commitment to the field.
• Expand participants’ capacity to
  • Deepen engagement across the institution,
  • Lead through times of change in higher education, and
  • Exercise leadership with an equity lens.
• Explore tensions and challenges inherent in the work and identify ways to address them.
• Share tools and strategies to strengthen participants’ ability to foster and deepen their campus’s engagement with communities.
• Envision and strategize how participants can help shape the future of the field.
• Develop an individual action plan to share participants’ learning and further the work on their campuses and beyond.
• Create the conditions for participants to relax and recharge in a welcoming environment.
