Director’s Update – October 2018

September 28, 2018

Fall is a time of change, and with this past week marking the official beginning of the Fall season, I am pleased to announce a few changes for our office!

We’re excited to be moving into our new office space at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee this week! We’re grateful for the support of the Stritch Hub for Innovation and Community Engaged Learning and to have neighbors like the Experiential Learning and Career Education Center and the African American Leadership Program on our floor. The new location reflects our long-term relationship with the Cardinal Stritch community and continued involvement by Cardinal Stritch community members with our organization. Kathleen A. Rinehart, President of Cardinal Stritch University, and Mark Gesner, Director for the Stritch Hub for Innovation and Community Engaged Learning, are both advisory board members. Sean Lybeck-Smoak, Director of Experiential Learning and Career Education, is a 2018 recipient of the Campus Compact for Wisconsin Sister Joel Read Civic Engagement Practitioners Award for his leadership in civic engagement, experiential learning, and community partnerships at Stritch. While the storage unit is now empty, we’ve still got some unpacking to do this week, but we’ll be ready for visitors soon!

Additionally, in order to better align our branding with other Campus Compact state and regional offices and as we seek to strengthen the Campus Compact organization as a whole, we’re transitioning to a new name: Campus Compact for Wisconsin or CCWI. We’ll slowly be updating this name across our communication channels, so I wanted to be sure to keep you all in the loop as you start to see those changes.

Finally, I am eager to meet some of you during my upcoming campus visits in October to: Moraine Park Technical College, UW – Superior, St. Norbert College, Gateway Technical College, UW – Parkside, and Carthage College. And I look forward to meeting others of you in person at our upcoming Regional Network Gatherings, as we focus on how challenge and change can also spark creativity and innovation in higher education community engagement:

October 3, 10am-1pm – Moraine Park Technical College

October 8, noon-3pm –  UW Superior

October 12, 10am-1pm-  UW Parkside

November 9, 10am-1pm–Western Technical College

Take care, and I hope this Fall brings new opportunities for you as well!
