Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA Now Recruiting Host Sites

We are seeking proposals from member campuses and school or non-profit partners to host an AmeriCorps VISTA member for a year of full-time volunteer service building capacity for projects that mobilize higher education to make a difference in the lives of individuals who live in poverty. Campus Compact VISTA members are leveraged to build capacity in one of four anti-poverty priority areas: Education, Economic Opportunity, Healthy Futures, and Veterans and Military Families. Native-Led Nutrition and Health Advocacy Efforts Funded –  First Nations Development Institute: Fertile Ground Advocacy Campaign The Fertile Ground Advocacy Campaign supports Native-led advocacy efforts to advance new policies and innovative policymaking approaches that will benefit Native American nutrition and health by improving access to healthy foods, reducing consumption of sugary beverages and foods, and strengthening food sovereignty work that is rooted in tradition, culture, and Indigenous knowledge. Newman Civic Fellows Nominations Now Open

Campus Compact is now accepting nominations for the 2019-2020 Newman Civic Fellowship. The Newman Civic Fellowship is a yearlong program that recognizes and supports community-committed students at Campus Compact member institutions. The fellowship is named for the late Frank Newman, one of Campus Compact’s founders and a tireless advocate for civic engagement in higher education. In the spirit of Dr. Newman’s leadership, the fellowship provides student leaders with training and resources that nurture their assets and passions to help them develop strategies for social change. Program Innovation Mini-Grants Now Available! The purpose of the Wisconsin Campus Compact (WiCC) Program Innovation Mini-Grant Program is to foster and support innovative programs associated with WiCC member institutions, specifically those programs that focus on community service, service-learning, civic engagement, and/or community-based research.

Principal Community Scholars Nominations

The Principal Community Scholars Program is a collaboration between Principal and Campus Compact that supports the leadership development of undergraduate students seeking a business or business-related degree. The curriculum and project help students develop critical skills for their careers. Students are selected through a competitive process to receive a $1,000 scholarship, participate in a civic leadership learning community and complete a community-based experiential learning project. Fund for Positive Engagement Award Recipients

Campus Compact has announced 40 college and university recipients of grants to bring people together across lines of difference from its Fund for Positive Engagement, including WiCC members St. Norbert College, Western Technical College and UW­Eau Claire. The Fund for Positive Engagement is a direct response by Campus Compact to the divisive and destructive climate in the United States that took shape during the 2016 campaign and has continued in its aftermath. Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award

This award is bestowed annually to recognize one faculty member and up to four finalists for exemplary leadership in advancing student civic learning, conducting community-based research, fostering reciprocal partnerships, building institutional commitments to engagement, and enhancing higher education’s contributions to the public good. The award is named in honor of Thomas Ehrlich, former chair of the Campus Compact board of directors and president emeritus of Indiana University, and is generously sponsored by the KPMG Foundation.
