unnamedConcordia University Wisconsin (CUW), a private liberal arts college located in Mequon on the shores of Lake Michigan, is a part of the 10-member Concordia University System operated by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.  The university’s mission statement reads: “Concordia University Wisconsin is a Lutheran higher education community committed to helping students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world.” With an enrollment of 8,268 students (4,820 full time), and a member of the NCAA Div. III, CUW is the home of Freddy the Falcon!

Notable alumni include U.S. Representative Andre Carson and author Walter Wangerin,Jr.

CUW’s service learning integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection. This is a hands-on approach to teaching which challenges students to integrate their service observations with course concepts and to grow in their faith.  Students participate in a Week of Service during Spring Break, volunteering locally and internationally.  Service learning is integrated in their coursework; for example, psychology students hosted a Gardens of Grace service project working to create an environmental garden.
